Arthur L. Plance, of Sharon, formerly of Weirton, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Wexford Health Care Center, Wexford, after an extended illness. He was 76.
Arthur was born in Weirton, W.Va. on Nov. 26, 1940, the son of the late George and Dorothy (Ewaskey) Plance. He was a 1959 graduate of Weirton High School. He served his country by being in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Arthur had worked as a foreman at Weirton Steel, Weirton, W.Va., for 15 years.
He was a charter member and a past board member of the Hancock County Sportsmen's Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.
Arthur was of the Baptist faith.
His family includes: three daughters, Dorothy Vavis and her husband Kenneth; and Terry Plance, all of Omaha, Neb.; Julie Jones and her husband James, of Hammondsville, Ohio; and a son, Joseph Plance and his wife Heidi, of Omaha, Neb.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Sloan; and Roberta Porterfield and her husband Robert, all of Sharon; and a brother, George Plance and his wife MaryAnn of Gainesville, Fla. Also surviving are his companion, Jacqueline Brown, of Reynolds.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Davis; and a brother, Michael Plance.
