Arthur S. Mogg

Events

Arthur S. "Doc" Mogg, 76, of Canfield, Ohio, died Sunday, July 7, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
He was born March 17, 1943, a son of Arthur and Margaret Martin Mogg. He lived in Canfield all of his life.
Doc was a 1961 graduate of Canfield High School and attended Youngstown State University. He was a businessman, starting his first company, ASM Equipment as a "jobber" before purchasing Sharon Packing Company, Inc., in Sharon in 1972. The family owned meat and restaurant supply and manufacturing company served businesses in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia until his retirement in 2013.
After retirement, Doc continued to work part-time with Acme Steak in Youngstown until his illness. Doc was known as a kind, generous, and hard-working family man. Anyone who frequented Quaker Steak and Lube in Sharon on a Wednesday night would know Doc and his best friend, "Bigga" Jim English.
Despite losing his leg to cancer in 1981, he loved to garden, work in the yard, and had the ability to fix anything around the house. He was most famous for his ribs and poolside family cookouts, where anyone who walked through the door was considered family.
His children and grandchildren were fortunate to work with him in the family business where they learned early on there is no excuse to call off work.
Doc leaves the love of his life, Patricia Mogg, whom he married April 29, 1981, and together they raised nine children.

He also leaves eight children, Kent Mogg of Clearwater, Fla.; Karl (Laurie) Mogg of South Bend, Ind.; Laura Mogg of Youngstown, Ohio; Michael (Claudia) Mogg and David (Jill) Mogg, both of Hubbard, Ohio; Lisa Mogg and Julie (Kerry) Durkin, both of Canfield; and Paul (Kristi) Mogg, of Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Gerry (Debbie) Mogg of Alameda, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and 19 grandchildren: Devan Cool, Jason, Michael, Conor, Hannah, Katherine, Kyle, and Erin Mogg, Katelyn Bouwman, Trisha Kelley, Amanda Lovey, Emily Chapel, Joey and Bridget Durkin, Meghan Blount, Patrick, Kaley, and Tess Donovan, and Randy McCloskey; and eight great-grandchildren, Landon, Liam, and Lainey Lovey, Annabelle and Jacob Kelley, Quinn Mogg, Jacob and Emma Blount, and his dogs, Duke and Molly.
In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by his son Tyler, and sister Frances "Frankie" Brock.
Contributions may be made to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, P.O. Box 631, Buffalo, N.Y., 14240.
