Ann  Skiljo


Ann Skiljo, 91, of Crystal River, Fla., formerly of Farrell, died on Nov. 28, 2018 at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Fla.
She was born in Farrell on April 26, 1927, to the late Mathew and Helen Hercha Sarsan. She married Matthew Frank Skiljo Sr. Nov. 5, 1949, and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1981.
Mrs. Skiljo was a Farrell High School Class of 1945 graduate. She continued her education at Westminster College in New Wilmington and earned a teaching certificate from Edinboro State College.
Ann was a wonderful wife, homemaker, mother and preschool teacher. She was formerly employed at Mrs. Fitzgerald's Preschool Program and Farrell Area Head Start Program.
An active member of St. Anthony Church, she was a member in the Saint Theresa Society and served as a past officer. She was a past president of the Parent Teacher Organization of St. Anthony School.
Survivors include her children, Janice (Lee) Haris of San Francisco, Calif., Rebecca (David) Gardner of Ayer, Mass., Matthew (Margaret) Skiljo of Sharon and Deborah (Randy) Hodges of Crystal River. Ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren complete the family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Bragg; and a brother, John Sarsan.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (12-7-18) at THE SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.
Service: Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday (12-8-18) at St. Anthony Church, Sharon, with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan officiating.
Interment: Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
