Alice Luella Dearborn Mongiello (nee Black) of Grove City, passed away on Sunday (Sept. 3, 2017). She was 93.
Alice was born to parents Herbert and Florence Black on June 9, 1924, and lived her entire life in Grove City.
She was the youngest of five children and attended Grove City Area High School - graduating in 1942 - and married her high school sweetheart, Dudley Dearborn. The couple had three children.
She worked as a secretary at Grace United Methodist Church and as a bookkeeper at McGill, Power, Bell & Co.
She taught Sunday School in the beginners class at Grace U.M. for many years, was a life-long member of Order of the Eastern Star, served as a Girl Scout leader and as a Cub Scout den mother.
Dudley preceded her in death in 1989.
Alice later married John Mongiello in 1991. They enjoyed retirement together while working on a variety of crafts, attending John's naval ship reunions, and spending quiet time at a small cabin in the Western Pennsylvania woods.
Alice is survived by: her daughter, Bonnie Gerchman; her son, Brad Dearborn; grandchildren Sarah Hollis, Josh Dearborn and Jacob Dearborn; and great-grandchildren Kaleb, Nathan, and Aubri Hollis.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Dudley; her son, Dudley II; her husband, John; her sisters, Virginia, Dorothea, Martha Jane; and her brother Frederick.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, in Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Willard Morse will officiate.
