Alice Catherine Lyon, 65, of Mercer, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. in Franklin after an extended illness surrounded by her family.
Alice was born in Pittsburgh to James and Margaret McGarvey Sommers on Dec. 27, 1951. She married Michael Lyon on Dec. 16, 1983.
Alice was a financial aid officer at various local vocational technical schools and was a member at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer.
Alice is survived by her husband, at the residence; one daughter, Melissa, wife of Korry Callihan, of Slippery Rock; and one son, Tim Lyon of Beaver Falls.
Also surviving are one sister, Helen "Peachie" Forsmark of McKees Rocks; four brothers, James Sommers of San Diego, Calif., Bill Sommers and his wife, Beverly, of Slippery Rock, Eddie Sommers and his wife, Bette, of Harrisville, and Tom Sommers of Portersville; four grandchildren, MaKenzie and Austin Callihan and Grace and Aly Lyon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Cokus; three brothers, John, Patrick and Larry Sommers; and one grandson, Conor James Harnett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a no-kill animal shelter of the donor's choice.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday (8-17-17) at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 100 Penn Ave., Mercer, with the Very Rev. Matthew Kujawinski V.F. officiating.
Burial: Mt. Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
