Albert Nicastro

Albert Nicastro, 92, of Sharon, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Dec. 7, 2017, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Nicastro was born April 23, 1925, in Sharon, a son of Samuel and Michaelina (Depascale) Nicastro. A lifelong area resident, he was a 1943 graduate of Farrell High School, where he was co-captain of the varsity football team.
Albert served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War, and was stationed in Europe for both tours of duty.
Albert retired as a foreman in 1987 from Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant, where he worked for 27 years.
He was a longtime member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon.
Albert was a member of the VFW in Sharon and the New Deal Club in Farrell, where he also enjoyed playing bocce. An avid reader, he particularly enjoyed military history and sports history. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
His wife of more than 61 years, the former Eunice Colclaser, whom he married Dec. 23, 1942, passed away Feb. 13, 2004.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon A. (Wayne) Rankin, of Newton Falls, Ohio; three grandchildren, Chris (Lori) Rankin, Amy (Ben) Cleland and Dan Rankin; six great-grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Rankin, Lauren Rankin, Chris Rankin II, Alayna and Brady Christman and Cali Cleland; and a great-great-grandson, Cooper Rankin.
In addition to his wife, Albert was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Donna Jean Nicastro; three sisters, Mary Sas, Rosalie Frisco and Serena Franks; and three brothers, Samuel, William and Edward Nicastro.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial at noon Saturday (12-9-17) in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Dutch Lane, Hermitage, with the Rev. Thomas Whitman, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery.
